New Monthly Format -- One Hour and 30 Minute Versions

By MadnessRadio - Posted on 27 February 2010

Hi everyone, because of limited resources Madness Radio is going on a monthly format for a while. Without any funding coming in I can't currently financially manage to produce the show more often.

I'm also preparing two versions of the monthly show -- the regular hour long version you'll see listed with the other shows and on the podcast feed, and a special 30 minute version with the same guest. KBOO in Portland is running the 30 minute version monthly, and if you or your station would like the 30 minute version as well just email radio(at)madnessradio.net and I'll set that up for you.

Not sure how long I'll be at monthly, but I hope to return to more frequent episodes at some point soon. Keeping Madness Radio going is a great deal of work, so if you can make a tax-deductible donation, or have any ideas of partner organizations or financial resources, please get in touch I'd love to hear your ideas!

Happy almost spring ~~~ Will Hall, Producer and Host, Madness Radio

Kudos on your incredible work on Madness Radio. Thanks to your Podcasts, I have been able to listen to every amazing episode on my way to work in Sacramento, where local radio hasn't picked up your show yet. Your show continues to connect me with lots of info and resources to use in my public policy advocacy. I have been citing the groundbreaking research of Alisha Ali and Tamasin Knight in a lot of my work. Your recent interview with Terry Kupers was especially helpful and insightful. I can't wait for the next installment.

The new 30-minute version should also be helpful as an educational tool for advocacy work on particular issues. Policy makers in government agencies may balk at having to listen to an hour-long show, but a 30-minute show may be harder for them to argue with!

Thanks Delphine - I am a longtime admirer of your voice and courage, and your feedback here means a lot. I should have the 30 minute versions up on the site where people can listen to them soon, right now I am just sending them to KBOO for our monthly timeslot there.

Also I want to point people to the interview you and I did a few years ago: http://www.madnessradio.net/madness-radi...

It's time to get you on the show again! ~~ Will

Just wanted to thank you again for madness radio. It's truly been the most life-enriching resource i've come across in years - i first stumbled on it at a time when i couldn't read and was very isolated, and i imagine there are many others in that situation. i will keep my eye out for funding possibilities.
best wishes,
debra shulkes

I love the eclectic array of voices and subjects on Madness Radio - it's completely refreshing to hear about these important issues from the inside, not in the impersonal tones of clinicians and psychiatrists. Hope you manage to find more funding soon.

Hi Will,

I'm here in Portland and have been listening to your podcast for some time now - but I hadn't seen your blog yet to know about needing to cut back on episodes. I'm SO glad to here you are still on the air, and though I miss not having even more shows, I fully understand. Thanks again for a truly amazing show and project!

if you need someone to help out-- for free, like an intern-- I'd be interested in donating some time. I'm a "psychiatric survivor," college grad, and am interested in independent media and social justice.
If you're interested, let me know where I should email you.

You can email me through the contact page and the Email Us button on the right. Thanks for your interest -- Will
